Kirundi text

Burundi Bwâcu, Burundi buhire,
Shinga icúmu mu mashinga,
Gaba intahe y'úbugabo ku bugingo.
Warápfunywe ntíwapfúye,
Waráhabishijwe ntíwahababuka,
Uhagurukana, uhagurukana, uhagurukana, ubugabo urîkukira.
Komerwamashyí n'ámakúngu,
Habwa impundu nâbâwe,
Isamírane mu mashinga, isamírane mu mashinga,
Burundi bwâcu, rági ry'ábasôkúru,
Ramutswa intahe n'íbihúgu,
Ufatanije ishyaka n'ubú hizi;
Vuza impundu wiganzuye uwakúganza uwakúganza.
Burundi bwâcu, nkóramútima kurí twese,
Tugutuye amabóko, umítima n'úbuzima,
Imâna yakúduhaye ikudútungire.
Horana umwami n'ábagabo n'ítekane.
Sagwa n'úrweze, sagwa n'ámahóro mezá.

Mutilé et meutri, do it demeuré maître de toi-même.
Qu'à travers l'univers retentisse ton nom.

German translation

Beloved Burundi, you beautiful country,
Take your place among the nations
Gained independence in good, with honor.
Damaged and killed you have now become a master of yourself.
The hour is here, you have risen
And you have bravely joined the free peoples.
Now accept the praise of the nations
And let your children praise you too,
That your name may resound through the entire universe.
Beloved Burundi, sacred heritage of our ancestors,
Considered worthy to rule yourself
To courage you add the feeling of honor
Sing the song of your regained freedom.
Dear Burundi, worthy object of our most tender love,
We dedicate our arms, hearts and lives to noble service to you.
God give you, who gave you to us, that you may remain in our worship,
Under the banner of unity
In peace, happiness and prosperity.
