MacKay , also known as Clan Morgan , is the name of a Scottish clan that originated in the Strathnaver region of Scotland in northern Sutherlandshire . Their territory included mainly the communities ( parish ) of Durness , Tongue and Farr .
history
The clan constantly struggled with powerful neighbors, including the MacDonalds and Sutherlands , and had to sell Strathnaver in 1642 due to continued pressure. In 1829 the Sutherland family took over the remaining lands of the MacKays.
The clan's motto is Manu forti ("With a strong hand").
