Historical development
The local authority association was established in 1993 as Communauté de communes Épinal-Golbey in order to pool the material resources of the two neighboring cities of Épimal and Golbey and to coordinate economic development. In 2011 the Communauté de communes was transformed into a Communauté d'agglomération . On January 1, 2012, on the recommendation of the prefect, the association was expanded to include many surrounding municipalities, sometimes even against the resistance of some municipalities and existing municipal associations.
Through the realignment of the municipal association, the associations
- Communauté de communes CAPAVENIR ,
- Communauté de communes Est-Épinal Développement and
- Communauté de communes du Pays d'Olima et du Val d'Avière dissolved.
Eight municipalities were taken over from the Communauté de communes de la Moyenne Moselle , the municipalities of Dounoux and Villoncourt have not previously belonged to any municipal association.
With effect from January 1, 2017, the community association merged with the Communauté de communes de la Vôge vers les Rives de la Moselle and thus formed the successor organization Communauté d'agglomération d'Épinal , which other communities from other associations also joined at the same time. Despite the same name, it is a start-up with a different legal personality.
