history

Dühren is probably an early Franconian settlement. The remains of the Limes and the associated Roman watchtowers 13/22 and 13/23 with towers 13/24 and 13/25 are located in the northern forest area of Hüll . Since the place is located directly on today's Teufelsmauer (the old Limes) and there was a double wall passage for the old paths here at the so-called Dührener Eck , the place name is derived from it, which means doors . The Limes runs in a straight line from the Wörnitz crossing with guard post 13/11 at Wilburgstetten over the Gelsmühle (here the Sulzach crossing of the wall is located) far past the Hesselberg to continue straight into the Hüll forest with a sharp bend - including the Hesselberg in the Roman sphere of influence To take direction Gunzenhausen .

In the Thirty Years' War the place was completely deserted.

Dühren was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen . The imperial city of Dinkelsbühl claimed the Fraisch on their property. The village and community rulership was held by the Ansbach Vogtamt Wittelshofen . Towards the end of the 18th century there were eight properties, a church and a community pastor's house in Dühren. The landlords were the box office Wassertrüdingen (2 half houses, 2 small houses), the Vogtamt Wittelshofen (1 estate), the imperial city of Dinkelsbühl (hospital: 2 goods) and the Eichstättische box office Ornbau (1 estate). From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Wassertrüdingen .

In 1806 Dühren came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . With the Gemeindeedikt it was formed in 1809 to the control district and Rural community Ammelbruch assigned. With the second community edict (1818), the rural community of Dühren was created, to which Grüb belonged. It was subordinate to the Wassertrüdingen Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Wassertrüdingen Rent Office in financial administration . In 1864 the municipality of Dühren was officially renamed Grüb.

On July 1, 1972, Dühren was incorporated into Wittelshofen as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
