Dürrnhof (dialect: "dęənhūf") is a district of the town of Merkendorf in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia ( Bavaria ).

geography

The hamlet is located on the Upper Mühlbach, called Heglauer Mühlbach from Heglau, which is a left tributary of the Altmühl . In the east lies the Mönchswald , in the west lies the Gostenloh corridor, in the southwest the Katzenzipfel and in the north the Seewasen. The district road AN 59 crosses the federal highway 13 to Heglau (1.1 km southwest) or to Selgenstadt (4.5 km northeast).

history

Finds from the time of the Urnfield in the Weiherwiesen near Dürrnhof show that the area around the place dates back to around 1200–800 BC. Was settled. In 1926, bronze women's jewelry was found around 1000 BC. Chr.

In 1344 a "Heinrich Meister zů dem Durrenhof" was mentioned, who was a monk of the Heilsbronn monastery . This is also the first written mention of the place. The defining word of the place name is probably the Middle High German adjective "durre" (= dry, lean). It cannot be clarified whether this meant the Obere Mühlbach or a field or forest.

The monastery Heilsbronn had laid the foundation for the extended provost placed Altmühl in Dürrnhof. Up until the 14th century, Dürrnhof was the official seat and court seat. The Mönchswald also belonged to the “Officum Dürrnhof” or the “Arida Curia”. Only later did the monastery move its headquarters to Merkendorf.

In the 16-point report of the Windsbach Oberamt from 1608, a team is recorded for "Dürrnhoff" that had the Merkendorf administrator as the landlord . The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 5 households in Dürrnhof (1 mill, 4 empty houses ). The high court was exercised by the caste and municipal bailiff's office in Windsbach. Merkendorf was the landlord of all properties. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach .

As part of the municipal edict, Dürrnhof was assigned to the Merkendorf tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the municipality of Merkendorf, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818) Dürrnhof was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community of Heglau . The place came on January 1, 1971 in the course of the municipal reform as a district of the former municipality of Heglau to the city of Merkendorf.

There is a sawmill in Dürrnhof .
