David Ellefson
David Ellefson , usually short Dave Ellefson (born November 12, 1964 in Jackson , Minnesota ), is an American bass player and best known for his activities with the band Megadeth . He is considered to be the calm and mediator of the band.
Career
Ellefson was a founding member of Megadeth in 1983. After a dispute with Megadeth singer and guitarist Dave Mustaine , who was reselling rights to Megadeth recordings without Ellefson's permission, he left the band in 2002 and did not rejoin until 2010.
After leaving, he played briefly at Soulfly . In 2004 he also founded the thrash metal band Temple of Brutality . Among other things, he then ran the band F5 with the former Megadeth drummer Jimmy DeGrasso .
In January 2010 he released the CD Kingdom of Evil of their newly founded melodic metal band Angels of Babylon together with the former Manowar drummer Rhino . On February 9, 2010, he announced his return to Megadeth on his homepage.
On January 14, 2014, an EP called Altitudes & Attitude was released, which Ellefson recorded with Frank Bello . The band is also called Altitudes & Attitude and is complemented by Jeff Friedl (The Beta Machine). In 2019 her debut album called Get It Out was released .
On February 12, 2017 Ellefson won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for the Megadeth song Dystopia (from the album of the same name ) at the 59th Grammy Awards together with Dave Mustaine , Kiko Loureiro and Chris Adler . In 2019 he played two tracks on Mark Morton's album , Anesthetic .
After he published his first autobiography My Life with Deth in 2013 , which he wrote together with Joel McIver - with a foreword by Alice Cooper - the follow-up More Life with Deth appeared in 2019 , which he wrote with his business partner Thom Hazaert. This time McIver wrote the foreword, numerous well-known rock and metal musicians such as Cooper, Brian Welch or KK Downing took part.
Ellefson also operates a music label , Ellefson Music Productions and EMP Label Group . He also founded Ellefson Films in 2019 and released the horror film Dwellers with Drew Fortier .
