The 131st German Swimming Championships took place as part of the finals from August 1st to 4th, 2019 for the 16th time in a row in the swimming and diving hall in the European Sports Park Berlin and were organized by the German Swimming Association . Titles were awarded in 43 competitions, with Annika Bruhn being the most successful athlete of these championships with five titles (2 in individual and 3 in relay). Florian Wellbrock and Sarah Köhler secured most of the individual titles with three successes each.

Attendees

Eligibility to start on the individual routes in the open class and in the junior class (Jg00 / 01w and Jg99 / 00m) were only those athletes who reached the qualification times in the qualification period in the "best list" of the DSV. The qualification period ran from December 1, 2018 to July 14, 2019. In the relay, the 50 fastest teams were allowed to start on each competition route.

462 swimmers from 144 clubs were registered for 1208 individual starts and 164 relays. With 24 active members, SG Essen provided the largest team in terms of numbers.

Records

The sporting highlights of the championships were the German records for club relays from the women of SV Nikar Heidelberg over the 4 × 200 meter freestyle and the mixed relay of the Neckarsulmer Sport Union over 4 × 100 meter medley.

German age class records for young people have been improved five times: Anna Elendt over 50 meters and 100 meters chest, Zoe Vogelmann over 200 meters medley, Silas Beth over 800 meters freestyle and Kim Herkle over 200 meters chest.
