background

The album was produced by Bill Stevenson and Andrew Berlin , while Andrew Livermoore did the mixing and mastering . Chris Beeble was responsible for engineering alongside Stevenson and Berlin. Stevenson and Berlin already produced The Hope Division of the band , released in 2010 . The album was recorded in the Blasting Room in Fort Collins , Colorado .

The album was first announced on November 21, 2011 with the release of Bringing You Down (A New World Overthrow) , which was inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement. This song was re-recorded for the album. On February 10, 2012, the album was announced in a trailer on the video platform Youtube for March 27, 2012. Six days before the album was released, the main single We Still Believe was presented to the public. A music video for an acoustic version of the song We Still Believe was released on the day the album was released. On March 14th, a new song was presented with Empty Heads .

In early April, a week after the album was released, the band released a music video for the song Against Them All . For the ten-year anniversary of the band, the album was exclusively pressed as a decade edition with an additional fifteenth track on vinyl and limited to 1,000 units. This was only sold during the band's Fuck the Messenger tour ; later the Decade Edition appeared on a digital level.

Diamond is the first album where Josh James can be heard on the electric guitar . In the album, as on the predecessor The Hope Division from 2010, there are occasional quotations from the Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti .

Press reviews

Sebastian Berning from Powermetal.de writes that Stick to Your Guns on Diamond sounds like a modern version of Boysetsfire . Despite the further developed melodies, the group remains true to their sound. The album sounds darker and more grown-up. The critic feels reminded of Rise Against or Boysetsfire. David Micken from Ox-Fanzine complains that the album is relatively conceptless. He also criticizes a discrepancy in the piece Ring Loud (Last Hope) which, according to Micken, begins furiously, but ends with a misplaced vocal duet. Lyrically, the musicians criticize capitalism and oppose homophobia and domestic violence . The reviewer praises the fact that the singer moves further away from his soulless clear vocals and approaches an organic sound. Micken also makes musical comparisons with Rise Against and predicts that Bringing You Down could become one of the new club anthems. Robert Fröwein from Stormbringer.at describes the album as an all in all a successful album, but asks the question whether the group will be able to keep its fans in the future.
