Dženis Burnić (born May 22, 1998 in Hamm ) is a German football player of Bosnian descent. In addition to German, the son of Bosnian parents also has Bosnian citizenship. He is under contract with 1. FC Heidenheim and is a multiple junior national player.

Career

In 2006 Burnić moved from SV 26 Heessen to the Borussia Dortmund youth performance center and went through several of the club's youth teams. In 2014 and 2015 he was German champion with the U17s of BVB , in the two following years also with the U19s, with eight goals and 13 assists in the championship season . In the summer of 2016, the defensive player was integrated into the professional squad of BVB and sat on the bench of the Bundesliga team for the first time on October 14 at the home game against Hertha BSC , but was not used. Burnić made his first professional appearance in the Champions League away game against Sporting Lisbon when he was substituted on in stoppage time. His first Bundesliga game followed on February 11, 2017 in Dortmund's 2-1 defeat against SV Darmstadt 98 . It was his only Bundesliga game that season.

For the 2017/18 season he was awarded for one season to league competitor VfB Stuttgart . Burnić finished seventh in the table with the Stuttgart team, but only made six appearances in the Bundesliga.

Burnić returned to BVB in summer 2018. After he was only used in the regional league , the defensive player was loaned to the second division club Dynamo Dresden at the end of January 2019 until the end of the 2018/19 season. Burnić played twelve times for Dynamo and ended up twelfth in the table with the team. For the 2019/20 season Burnić extended his contract with BVB until June 30, 2021 and at the same time his loan contract with Dynamo Dresden until June 2020. The defensive player made 23 more mandatory games for Dresden, mostly from the start, but played with the club October 2019 against relegation. On the 26th matchday, which was only played at the beginning of June 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic , Burnić sustained an ankle injury and was unable to attend for a long time. In his absence, Dynamo rose from bottom of the table in the 3rd division , whereupon he left the club.

Burnic remained in the 2. Bundesliga and joined the season 2020/21 for 1. FC Heidenheim , where he received a contract until June 30, 2023rd

National team

Burnić has so far played international matches for all teams from the U15s, including five for the U19s and ten for the U20 national team and two for Germany's U21s .
