The Eichenkratt is a nature reserve in Lower Saxony spots Steyerberg in Nienburg / Weser .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 011 is 7  hectares in size. It has been under nature protection since September 15, 1993. The area replaces the nature reserve of the same name designated on September 9, 1939. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Nienburg / Weser.

The nature reserve is located north of Steyerberg on the edge of the Steyerberg Forest in the Eickhofer Heide, a hilly terminal moraine landscape . It protects a Kratt forest , characterized by oaks ( English and sessile oaks ) , which has not been used for decades. The oaks were able to grow into the characteristic tree shapes. A high proportion of dead wood and a well-developed herb layer can be found in the nature reserve .

A at an acute angle between two farm roads lying in the east of the reserve area, the mainly with pine is passed, is developed by the use of the jaws to oak wood.
