The Holtorfer Moor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Steimbke in the joint municipality of Steimbke and the municipality of Heemsen in the joint municipality of Heemsen in the district of Nienburg / Weser .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 084 is 160 hectares . It has been under nature protection since May 16, 1985. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Nienburg / Weser.
The nature reserve is located northeast of Nienburg and northwest of Steimbke on the northern edge of a terminal moraine . It is part of the Lichtenmoor , on the western edge of which it is located. In addition to former hand peat cuttings, the moor also has original raised bog areas . The areas in the south of the nature reserve were cultivated as grassland . These areas, which are predominantly farmed extensively, are particularly important for meadow birds . The uncultivated area is mostly made up of peat forest and can regenerate itself through decussing and rewetting measures .
The nature reserve is traversed by the Lichtenmoorgraben, which drains via the Schwarze Riede to the Wölpe , a tributary of the Aller .
