The Buchhorster Auwald is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Balge in the Samtgemeinde Marklohe in the district of Nienburg / Weser .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 036 is 6.1  hectares in size. It is completely from the conservation area surrounded "Wesermarsch". The area has been a nature reserve since April 13, 1972. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Nienburg / Weser.

The nature reserve is located northwest of Nienburg in the lowland area of the Weser and protects a mixed oak forest with hornbeams and ash trees as the remainder of an alluvial forest . The forest, which is rich in dead wood, has a pronounced layer of bushes . There is a gray heron colony in the forest , which is looked after by the Nienburger Kreisverband des Naturschutzbund Deutschland .
