The Krähenmoor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Steimbke and Stöckse in the joint municipality of Steimbke and in the city of Nienburg / Weser in the Nienburg / Weser district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 079 is 230 hectares in size. In the southeast it borders directly on the nature reserve “ Krähenmoor II ”, otherwise it is surrounded by the landscape protection area “Die Krähe”. The area has been a nature reserve since October 18, 1984. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Nieburg / Weser.
The nature reserve lies between Nienburg and Steimbke. It is part of a raised bog area surrounded by ground and terminal moraines with open and partially growing raised bog areas. In the edge area in the west of the nature reserve there is also extensive heather vegetation . In the southeast, forest grows on mineral subsoil, which is characterized by numerous old wood .
The rewetting of the peat body is planned as part of the protection. The forest in the southeast of the protected area is to be developed into a beech-oak forest .
The area is traversed in the southern area by Krähenmoorgraben and Schiffgraben. The Schiffgraben drains the area via the Führser Mühlbach to the Weser . The northern area of the moor partly drains to the Schwarzen Riede, a tributary of the Wölpe , which flows into the Aller at Rethem (Aller) .
