English rugby union championship 2011/12

The 2011/12 season of the English Premiership was the 25th major league season of the English Rugby Union Championship. For sponsorship reasons it was called Aviva Premiership . It began on September 3, 2011, comprised 22 match days (one pre- and second round) and lasted until May 5, 2012. Then the four best-placed teams qualified for the semi-finals, the semi-final winners met on May 26, 2012 in the final Twickenham Stadium on top of each other. The Harlequins became champions for the first time , while the Newcastle Falcons had to relegate.

    The season of the second division, the RFU Championship , comprised 22 game days (one first and one second round). The best eight teams met in two groups and played in play-offs for a place in the first division. The four remaining teams played among themselves a relegated third division.
