Eschen is a part of the municipality of Eckersdorf in the Bayreuth district in Upper Franconia .
geography
The Eschenbach flows through the village, a right tributary of the Seitenbach, which merges with the pasture to the Truppach . Approx. 1.5 kilometers north-north-west is the Braunstein ( 585 m above sea level ), one kilometer southeast of the Hohenbuche ( 546 m above sea level ). The B 22 leads to Eckersdorf (4.2 km east) or Busbach (3 km west). The district road BT 16 leads to Lahm (0.8 km north). A community road leads to Windhof (0.6 km south).
history
The place was first mentioned in 1401 as "Neschendorf" (to Eschendorf), in 1409 as "Escha" and in 1421 as "Eschen". The place name is derived from the ash trees that were probably in the area when it was founded.
With the community edict (early 19th century), the rural community Eschen was formed, to which the places Lahm and Windhof belonged. It was under the administration and jurisdiction of the Bayreuth Regional Court and had an area of 4,920 km². On May 1, 1978, it was incorporated into the new municipality of Eckersdorf as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
