Fifth season is the seventh album by the German rock group Karat from 1987. The album was released in both parts of separated Germany at the same time, in the Federal Republic of Germany also as a CD . It was also the first production in which Christian Liebig appeared as the bass player for Karat.
content
What is remarkable is the mostly dreamy, calm atmosphere that dominates the overall picture of the album. Longings and desires are taken up in many titles, whether it is the desire for success ( scraps of velvet ), the longing for the great but unattainable love ( Fifth Season , The Love Curse ) or wanderlust, the wish to be somewhere else ( Hab 'touched the moon by hand ).
The fifth season is also a typical “ Vorwende album ”. It contains statements on the political situation and expresses the thoughts and wishes of the separated German people. In Der Doppelgänger , for example, the division, the meaning of the division and the history of Germany are metaphorically illuminated and called into question by the bizarre motif of the doppelganger. In the song Bell Two Thousand , the group addresses the illusions produced by propaganda politics (“ Gone are the days when one alone could promise us heaven on earth .”) And the soon to be expected time of final stagnation in the GDR (“ Whoever believes still of happiness ... when what blossoms in front of a concrete wall breaks in the bud ... ").
On the album numerous guests participated, among others, the singer of rock house ( Mike Kilian ) and City ( Toni Krahl ), the guitarist of Pankow ( Jürgen Ehle ) and Bernd Bangel (formerly Babylon ) and Tamara Danz , entitled bell Two thousand with Herbert Dreilich sang in a duet.
The titles Fifth Season and The Love Curse as well as In Your Gallery and The Bicycle Seller were released as single. Both singles only appeared under Teldec . The title I touched the moon with my hand appeared in an alternative version in 1985 on the single for the live album On the Way to You .
Overall, the album Fifth Season sold over 270,000 times.
