history
The Fraisch over Frankenhofen was controversial. It was claimed by both the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen and the Oberamt Aufkirchen in Oettingen-Spielberg . The imperial city of Dinkelsbühl wanted to assert them on their estates. At the end of the 18th century there were 56 properties in Frankenhofen. There was also a church, a rectory, and a school house and a community pastor's house. Were landlords
- the box office Wassertrüdingen (1 Gütlein, 3 houses, 1 house with brewing and brandy rights, 1 half house)
- the principality of Oettingen-Spielberg (11 properties; Oberamt Aufkirchen: 1 mill, 6 Sölden , 1 house, 2 half houses; the Catholic Oberamt Aufkirchen: 1 Sölde)
- the Württemberg Oberamt Weiltingen (32 properties; 1 restaurant , 1 Widemhof , 3 courtyards, 4 Köblergüter , 21 Söldengüter, 2 half Söldengüter)
- the imperial city of Dinkelsbühl (Dreikönigspflege: 1 Köblergut; hospital: 2 courtyards, 1 Söldengut)
- the Teutonic Order ( Obervogtamt Oettingen : 1 yard)
- Freieigen (1 half house, 1 house).
The village and community rulership was inherited from the landlords.
With the community edict (early 19th century) the tax district and the rural community Frankenhofen were founded, to which Ruffenhofen belonged. Its administration and jurisdiction were subordinate to the Aufkirchen lower court , from 1820 to the Mönchsroth court and from 1831 to the Dinkelsbühl regional court . The municipality had an area of 8.745 km². In the course of the regional reform , this was incorporated into the Weiltingen market on May 1, 1978.

Ruffenhofen is incorrectly given as 68 inhabitants and thus the population of the municipality is incorrectly given as 386 inhabitants. From the population of the municipality, as it is given in the historical municipality register (411), minus the other districts, the correct population of 93 inhabitants results.
