geography
The Frankenmühle was located on the Schwalm in the Frankenmühle district, in the Schwalmtal municipality in the Viersen district . Above is the Mühlrath mill , below the Borner mill . The water level of the Schwalm is 43 m above sea level.
history
The Frankenmühle was an oil mill that gave the Frankenmühle district its name. The name has been proven as a hobby name as early as the 13th century . The name is also listed on the Tranchot card from 1806. We know a lot about the name, but little about the mill, apart from a few archaeological finds. The archaeological finds were made during the Schwalm regulation . At a depth of about one meter, around 30 oak stakes were discovered that were charred at the top. Between the piles lay pottery shards from the 11th - 14th centuries and remains of millstone.
