history
The Neumühle was given in lease by Wilhelm von Jülich to Gerhard von Bocholtz in 1375 . At that time it was still called "Roxforter Mühle". Together with a windmill built by Bocholtz around 1600 , which they called Neumühle, the two formed an economic unit. The windmill disappeared again around 1900 without leaving any traces. However, they left names that still exist today. The excavated windmill quarry had become the mill pond for the water mill and has also taken on the name Neumühle. The fact that the mill was sometimes also called Gartzmühle was due to the Gartz tribe of millers, who had owned the mill since 1846.
The grain mill with an undershot water wheel has been supported by a turbine since 1907 , which was renewed and improved again in 1948. It made up to 26 hp depending on the water level. The mill was in operation until a few years ago. The mill building is currently being converted into a residential building.
