The Leuther Mühle is a watermill with an undershot mill wheel east of Nettetal - Leuth ( Viersen district , North Rhine-Westphalia ). It is located on the Nette , which is about 40 m above sea level there, between De Wittsee and Schrolicksee.
history
In the 16th century, the Leuther mill belonged to the von Holthausen family. Their legal successor from Ketzgen to Haus Clee in Burgwaldniel later pledged the mill several times. Around 1800 the mill belonged to Count Schaesberg . There were close family ties between the families mentioned. Flaxseed oil was produced until 1932 and grain was milled until 1966 . After the closure, the building and the mill facilities were largely preserved. The Leuther Mühle is the only mill on the Nette that still has an intact water wheel outside and functioning grinding stages and a pan mill inside .
In 1969 a Dutch hotelier bought the mill, in 1981 a Leuther family. The latter ran a restaurant and a hotel. In January 2014, the company filed for bankruptcy. The Leuther Mühle has been operated as a seminar house since 2017.
