history

In 1456 the Lüttelforster mill appears for the first time in the annals of Haus Bocholtz (noble family) , a manor in Waldniel . It belonged to the Dahlhof and was therefore also called Dahlmühle at that time. By dividing the inheritance in 1591, the farm and the mill were separated from the headquarters in Waldniel and the Sibert von Bocholtz family was given. The mill was operated as an oil and grain mill.

When it was leased to Matthias Jetten in 1763, the very interesting lease price was also mentioned: 13 Malter (grain size, about 3.5 quintals ) of rye , 6 Malter barley , 4 Malter buckwheat , 2 Malter wheat , a fat pig , 10 kilograms of fish , 100 chicken eggs , 100 duck eggs , 8 chickens , 8 ducks , 4 pounds of sugar , 2 pounds of ginger , 1 pound of pepper , ¼ pounds of cinnamon , 3 pounds of plums , 3 pounds of raisins , 1 pound of currants , ¼ of nutmeg , ¼ of nutmeg and ¼ of a pound of cabbage nails the grain mill and 21 Reichstaler , 3 Malter baking flour , 50 cans of linseed oil , 14 cans of rapeseed oil and a gold guilder for the New Year from the oil mill .

Around 1900 a restaurant was set up in the mill . The mill retained its right of storage until the cessation of grinding operations in 1954 . The Lüttelforster Mühle is now a " hotel - restaurant " with a large iron water wheel as a landmark and an original pan mill as decoration in the dining room.

Monument entry

The brick corner courtyard was built in the 2nd half of the 18th century. The two-storey house in 7 axes was built with stone walls and sills. The mill wheel has been preserved, but was changed in the 19th century. This mill is with the others, e.g. Some of the less well-preserved mills on the Schwalm, a clear testimony to the fact that grain and oil milling were important historical branches of the economy. This vividness of history is still given here despite later changes. The entry relates to: 1. Preservation of the street-side facade of the mill building with its division and window shapes, the gables facing the Schwalm (with the exception of the half-timbered bay) and the shape of the roof. 2. Preservation of the facade (with division) and the shape of the roof of the adjacent building in the same alignment. 3. Preservation of the roof shape and the proportions of the barn protruding at an angle.
