Galatina (wine)

The name Galatina stands for white , red and rosé wines from the southern Italian province of Lecce in the Apulia region . They are partially expanded with the predicate Novello , "Riserva" or sparkling wine (Frizzante). The wines have had a protected designation of origin ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1997 , the last update of which was published on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation is permitted within the province of Lecce in the municipalities of Galatina , Cutrofiano , Aradeo , Neviano , Seclì , Sogliano Cavour and Collepasso .

Different wines are produced and sold under the name Galatina DOC :

  • Galatina Bianco (also called Frizzante ) - at least 55% must be made from the Chardonnay grape variety . A maximum of 45% other white grape varieties that are permitted in the province of Lecce may be added, individually or together.
