Gerlinde Countess von Westphalen (* 25. March 1966 in Simmern as Gerlinde summer ) is a German gallery owner , publicist and curator .

Life

Gerlinde Countess von Westphalen was born as Gerlinde Sommer in Simmern in 1966 . She grew up with two siblings in her parents' house in Hinzerath , a district of the Morbach community in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district . After graduating from the Nikolaus-von-Kues-Gymnasium in Bernkastel-Kues in 1985, she studied German , philosophy and political science at the universities of Trier , Cologne and Berlin from 1985 to 1991 . 1991 completion of studies with diploma in political science at the Free University of Berlin .

From 1988 to 1992 she had various activities, including working for the Joachim Ringelnatz letter edition (University of Cologne; Chair of Modern Literature), the textbook project “Parliamentary Teaching” (University of Cologne and FU Berlin), and the structural commission for political science and sociology at the university Potsdam . From 1992 to 1997 she was a research assistant at the University of Halle-Wittenberg , Institute for Political Science (Chair for Political Philosophy ).

1996 followed by the doctorate to Dr. phil. at the University of Halle-Wittenberg , with Richard Saage and Gerhard Göhler .

Together with her husband Raban Graf von Westphalen , she founded the "Galerie in der Burg" ( GbR ) in 1998 to hold exhibitions and cultural events. In the first few years, the gallery was housed in Großbodungen Castle. Due to the great demand for events, the gallery was re-established in 2005 in the Großbodungen Kemenate , which belongs to the castle . More than 400 events and 60 exhibitions were held in the gallery by the end of 2018. Were shown u. a. Art shows by Jost Heyder , Max Lingner , Gerd Mackensen , Otto Paetz , Ronald Paris , Heinz Scharr and Willi Sitte . On December 31, 2018, the “Gallery in the Castle” and the associated café in the bower were closed.

From 1999 to 2004 Gerlinde Countess von Westphalen was a member of the district council of the Eichsfeld district for the SPD . In 2009 she was in the district council for the FREE VOTERS . After the successful election in 2014, she resigned there and joined the DIE LINKE parliamentary group as an intern . In addition, she was a member of the supervisory board of the Eichsfeldwerke in Heilbad Heiligenstadt from 2016 to 2019 and deputy chairwoman of the Thuringian regional group of the German Castle Association from 2017 to 2019 .

Today Gerlinde Countess von Westphalen is no longer primarily involved in politics. She is now working as a freelance journalist , as well as in the field of cultural consulting and cultural management .
