Educational institutions

"Peace School" special needs school

At Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße 50, the municipal special needs school, Peace School, has existed for several decades . The focus of support at this school is on learning.

Day care center of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) "Am Sonnenhang"

The AWO daycare center “Am Sonnenhang” already exists in the street "Am Sonnenhang 8", in the immediate vicinity of the old district court . According to their own description, the building of the day care center is on a manageable plot of land in a traffic-calmed dead end. The house is surrounded by Art Nouveau villas, multi-family and single-family houses. Adjacent is the former area of the children's clinic. Not far from the facility there are also two public playgrounds, the "Nurre" forest area and the city center. The building is bright, has many wooden elements and offers plenty of space for different activities for the children. A total of 40 children attend the day care center. There are a total of 20 children in the U3 group, including 6 children aged 2 years.

Daycare center of the SOS Children's Village

Since mid-December 2012, a municipal building at Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße 27 has been examined as one of five locations for new U3 groups. The building had previously been the former domicile of the child protection association.

On Monday, January 21, 2013, a report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten, from which it emerged that the opening of a new kindergarten on Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße was being planned.

After an intensive search for a carrier for the new day care center in the former domicile of the Child Protection Association, the administration of the city of Lüdenscheid proposed the SOS Children's Village as the carrier to the youth welfare committee, which met on January 29 at 5 p.m. in the council chamber . In total, two groups with 40 places have been created in the new daycare center on Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße, 12 of which are for children under three years of age.

On January 29, 2013, the youth welfare committee unanimously agreed to the administrative proposal that the SOS Children's Village is the sponsor for the new daycare center at Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße 27.

At the end of October 2013, a report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten that in the spring of 2014 a daycare center with 40 places opened in the completely renovated building at Freiherr-vom Stein-Straße 27 under the direction of the SOS Children's Village. The building was a children's home from 1912 to 1976. After that, the house was used as a domicile by several associations. A second staircase has also been newly built in the building. New kitchens, children's kitchens, a dining elevator, washrooms, gymnastics rooms, high and bright group rooms, offices and consultation rooms were set up in the house. The project was financed by a well-known Lüdenscheid investor.

Ten of the 40 places are intended for children under three years of age. Registrations - especially for this age group - were accepted until December 15, 2013 at the new daycare center. The day care center was officially opened on April 14, 2014. The opening times are mostly 35 and 45 hours. The daycare center wants to be based entirely on the parents' wishes. A total of six kindergarten teachers and one kitchen assistant have been working in the listed building since April 14, 2014.

The new group floors have been named "Bärenhöhle" and "Fuchsbau". In addition, a professional kitchen in the basement, separate children's kitchens per floor and a food elevator have been created in the building. In addition, the listed old washroom in the basement could be retained.

Waldorf kindergarten

Another kindergarten is the Waldorfkindergarten Lüdenscheid eV It is housed in a listed villa. According to his description, the kindergarten is a parents' initiative and therefore lives from the commitment of the parents. In the kindergarten there are two groups for children between the ages of three and six and one group between the ages of one and three. In addition, "integrative" work is carried out in the facility. The U3 group can accommodate 10 children and the two regular groups can accommodate up to 25 children.

From a report in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten on April 17, 2013 it became known that the Waldorf kindergarten is to receive new radiators for 31,000 euros during the summer vacation of 2013.

Infrastructure

General

To the south of the city center in the Hasley district, the short footpaths to the shops and medical facilities in the city center resulted in a large number of apartment buildings with apartments suitable for the elderly. In some cases, assisted living is even offered in the residential complexes.

Planned minibus route

Due to the massive inclines from Hasley to the city center, there are various difficulties for older residents to reach the city center of Lüdenscheid . This should be counteracted by a minibus line would have connected the Hasley district with the city center. The bus line would have headed for about 10 stops on its route. However, due to the unsecured financing, the project was abandoned for the time being. Instead, they are currently considering setting up a grocery order service for the older residents of Hasley. This upper part of Hasley had previously been largely shaped by the areas and buildings of former industrial companies.

After the project of the minibus line for the Hasley district had become quite quiet, a report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten on January 24, 2013 that there were still plans for a suitable public transport system for Hasley. Within the scope of this planning, there could also be a combination with the “City-E-Shuttle” project of the Lüdenscheid / MK energy transition group. This new project is considering whether electric buses (e-buses) could also at least partially take over a new route in Hasley.

Complex of the former children's clinic

The former buildings of the children's clinic on Hohfuhrstrasse were demolished in 2013. In 2007 the children's clinic had already moved to the area of the Lüdenscheid clinics in Hellersen . In May 2011, she was followed by child and adolescent psychiatry in the Lüdenscheid clinics. A Lüdenscheid real estate company is to prepare the 28,000 square meter site "as soon as possible for sophisticated residential development" and sell it piece by piece "to individual builders". The head of the real estate company assumes that this could be done by April 2013. A kind of "generation park" should then be created on the site, which should have a mix of single and multi-family houses.

On Saturday, January 19, 2013, a report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten, from which it emerged that there was sometimes massive criticism of the relatively high prices of the new houses on the children's clinic premises. It is speculated that a medium-sized residential property could cost around 500,000 euros. Thereupon, at an information event, the accusation was raised that the new houses were only affordable for “the upper class” and that “the middle class” was being displaced. In response to the question of who should live in the new houses due to the relatively high prices, an architect and at the same time a member of the city CDU said that the houses were conceivable for "young entrepreneurs" and "company successors", for example. The real estate entrepreneur involved in the project referred to "cheaper living alternatives", such as on Vogelberg .

More new buildings in the district

One of the other projects in Hasley was, for example, the development of the approximately 5500 square meter industrial wasteland of the former Assmann complex, which is framed by Hasleystrasse on one side and by Gartenstrasse on the other. In 2009 the remains of the factory were completely removed here. By 2010, six buildings had been built here in a relaxed design, namely as publicly funded living space. The project created a total of 60 to 70 new apartments in the Hasley district. The flat monopitch roofs with a roof pitch of about six degrees are oriented to the south and could accommodate solar collectors for hot water preparation, but there is still space for photovoltaics given the roof areas. Together with heating using heat pumps, the energy standard comes very close to the consumption of passive houses, but still with active heating and ventilation. In addition to the loosened development, significantly more green was integrated into the environment. An underground car park with 30 to 35 spaces and a barrier-free network of footpaths to Sauerfeld and Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße rounded off the project.

The model for the project was the development of the former Vossloh site on Gartenstrasse, which began in 2007. There were also six four-storey buildings with over 60 apartments suitable for the elderly and subsidized by the state, most of which were designed to be barrier-free. In the immediate vicinity of the new apartments, a new building for the Weststrasse senior citizens' home was built. There is now a nursing home for 60 residents with eight units for assisted living.

Worth seeing

The different architectural styles of the Hasley district and the extensive footpaths in the district invite you to take a walk. At the train station as well as the nearby Rathausplatz and Sternplatz in the city center itself, you can best see the massive development of the surrounding districts. There are some newly designed playgrounds for children in the district.
