Ingo Hülsmann (born November 1963 in Stuttgart ) is a German theater and film actor and director .

career

Hülsmann was hired directly from the Frankfurt drama school by Hans Neuenfels to the Freie Volksbühne Berlin , where he made his debut in Brecht's Im Thicket of Cities (director and stage: Karl Kneidl ) in the main role of Garga - alongside Hermann Treusch as Shlink (1987). Neuenfels then also cast him in Schiller's Die Räuber as Karl Moor (rehearsal work canceled before the premiere) as well as in his Kleist project Europa or the second apple . Hülsmann worked at the Freie Volksbühne and at the Berlin Schillertheater in several other important productions (by Christof Nel and Niels-Peter Rudolph ) as Tybalt , Leonce and Claudio . After the directorships in Neuenfels and Treusch ended, Hülsmann worked as a freelance for a while, but was then also engaged at the Hamburg Schauspielhaus and the Vienna Burgtheater (as Achill in Heinrich von Kleist's Penthesilea , director: Ruth Berghaus ). 1995–1999 he played at the Munich Residenztheater .

Hülsmann brought in Neuenfels in Munich and then again in 2001 for his staging of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , and since then he has been involved in numerous productions there, including those by Michael Thalheimer . He had extraordinary success as Marinelli in Thalheimer's production of Lessing's Emilia Galotti and in the title role of Goethe's Faust (also directed by Thalheimer). From 2001 to 2012 he was a permanent member of the Deutsches Theater. The fact that he spontaneously took on the role in Jan Bosse's completely different Hamburg production for his sick colleague Edgar Selge earned him great respect and admiration.

For many years, Hülsmann has repeatedly appeared in film and television roles.

In 2007, he directed the piece of mobile from Sergi Belbel the first time directing. He has been permanently employed at the Berlin Schaubühne since the 2012/2013 season .
