As Pentium Dual-Core , Intel describes a family of dual-core processors (dual-core) for laptops and notebooks that are placed as inexpensive processors because they have relatively little L2 cache and other features are deactivated. In addition, the processor speed is chosen to be quite moderate compared to other processors with the same microarchitecture.

Technical

The processors based on the Yonah core are offshoots of the Intel P6 micro- architecture, which, however, have been significantly modified compared to older processors of this micro-architecture. Processors based on the Yonah core do not have Intel 64 .

Newer versions based on the Merom core, on the other hand, are processors based on the Intel Core microarchitecture (which was developed on the basis of the P6 architecture) and support Intel 64.

With the Westmere -based Pentium versions introduced in 2010 , Intel dispensed with the addition of "dual-core" in its name.

In June 2011, Intel introduced Pentium versions based on Sandy Bridge . They differ from the Core i processors of the same architecture in terms of reduced features, caches and clock speed.
