A Jewish community in Clouange in the Moselle department in the French region of Lorraine had existed since the 17th century.

history

The Jewish community of Clouange was founded after 1919 and had its most active sponsor in Lazard Cahen. First the service took place in a small prayer room. Part of the Jewish community was deported and murdered during World War II . The Jewish community had belonged to the Israelite consistorial district of Metz since 1808 .

In 1960 the re-established Jewish community inaugurated its new synagogue , which is now used as a youth center.
