A Jewish community in Dieuze in the Moselle department in the French region of Lorraine has existed since the 18th century at the latest.

history

The Jewish community of Dieuze built a synagogue as early as the 18th century , which was also visited by the Jewish residents of the neighboring towns. In 1907 a synagogue was built with oriental- style elements such as a dome and rose window . In 1940 this synagogue was destroyed. The synagogue , built in 1955, is no longer used for worship and is in ruins. The Jewish community had belonged to the Israelite consistorial district of Metz since 1808 .

The Jewish cemetery in Dieuze is on the Chemin du Calvaire . It was desecrated in 1998, with many gravestones damaged.
