A Jewish community in Hayange in the Moselle department in the French region of Lorraine was established at the beginning of the 18th century.

history

The Jewish community of Hayange built their first synagogue in 1863 on Rue de Neufchef, today's Rue de Verdun. This synagogue was destroyed in 1940 on the orders of the German mayor Anton Betz. On September 15, 1957, the newly built synagogue was inaugurated on the same site. The Jewish community has belonged to the Israelite consistorial district of Metz since 1808 .

The old Jewish cemetery is near the train station and the new one is on Rue Marspich.
