A Jewish community in Bionville-sur-Nied in the Moselle department in the French region of Lorraine had existed since the 17th century at the latest.

history

As early as 1640, the Jewish community of Bionville-sur-Nied already owned a synagogue and a cemetery , which is located on the road to Brouck and today still has numerous gravestones ( Mazevot ). From 1808 the Jewish community belonged to the Consistoire Metz .

A small synagogue was built in the village between 1815 and 1820, which was set on fire by the German occupiers in 1940 .

A memorial plaque was inaugurated on October 13, 1996, commemorating six Jewish residents of Bionville-sur-Nied who were deported and murdered by the Germans .
