A Jewish community in Lixheim in the Moselle department in the French region of Lorraine was established by the 18th century at the latest.

history

The Jewish community of Lixheim owned a synagogue on the corner of Rue Saint-Antoine and Rue de la Synagogue from 1778 to 1859 . The new synagogue was inaugurated in 1862 and destroyed in 1940. It looked like the synagogue in Phalsbourg and was on the corner of Rue du Moulin and Rue des Bouchers.

The Jewish community of Lixheim belonged to the Israelite consistorial district of Nancy from 1808 to 1871 , then to the consistorial district of Metz .

In 1850 the Jewish community numbered 210 people, in 1945 only 36, because 18 community members were deported and murdered.

The Jewish cemetery is on the road to Vieux Lixheim and gravestones ( Mazevot ) from the end of the 18th century are still there.
