Career
Jason Jaffray began his career as a hockey player in the Western Hockey League , in which he was active from 1997 to 2002 for Edmonton Ice , Kootenay Ice and the Swift Current Broncos . He then moved to the Roanoke Express in the East Coast Hockey League . After a year he moved to their league rivals Wheeling Nailers , for whom he was on the ice for the following two seasons. During his time in the ECHL, the attacker also ran for the Norfolk Admirals and Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins from the American Hockey League . Towards the end of the 2004/05 season Jaffray was committed by the Manitoba Moose from the AHL, for which he played the following four years.
In addition, the Canadian made his debut in the 2007/08 season in the National Hockey League for Manitoba's cooperation partner, the Vancouver Canucks . In his rookie year , the left-handed shooter scored a total of six points in 19 games, including two goals. In the following season, Jaffray was only sporadically used in Vancouver's NHL team and instead reached the final of the Calder Cup with the Manitoba Moose , in which he and his team were defeated by the Hershey Bears . On July 7, 2009, Jaffray was signed as a free agent by the Calgary Flames . The winger mainly spent the 2009/10 season with their farm team , the Abbotsford Heat from the AHL, and ended the regular season as the team's most successful scorer with 54 points in 72 games.
In late June 2010, the Calgary Flames transferred him to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Logan MacMillan . Before the start of the season, Jaffray tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training camp and did not play a game for the Anaheim Ducks during the season. In October 2010 they put him on the Injured Reserve List and more than four months later on the waiver list , from which no other team selected him. For the final phase of the regular 2010/11 season, Jaffray was sent to the Manitoba Moose , for which the attacker was on the ice from mid-April 2011 and with these reached the second play-off round for the Calder Cup.
At the end of the 2010/11 season , the Anaheim Ducks did not extend its expiring contract, so Jaffray became a free agent. On July 19, 2011, he received a contract with the Winnipeg Jets . With their new farm team, the St. John's IceCaps , he was named the first team captain in franchise history. He left the team after four years as its best scorer and joined the EHC Red Bull Munich . Jaffray spent a total of five seasons there by the end of his career in spring 2020 and celebrated with the Munich team three times winning the German championship between 2016 and 2018 .
