John Moore (born November 19, 1990 in Winnetka , Illinois ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League since July 2018 .

Career

John Moore began his career as a hockey player with the Chicago Steel, for which he was active from 2007 to 2009 in the US junior league United States Hockey League . In the 2008/09 season he was nominated for the league's All-Star Game and voted the league's best defender of the year and in their first All-Star team. The defender was then selected in the first round in the NHL Entry Draft 2009 as a total of 21st player from the Columbus Blue Jackets . First, however, he played for a year in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League for the Kitchener Rangers and took part in the league's All-Star Game in the 2009/10 season .

For the 2010/11 season Moore was ordered by the Columbus Blue Jackets to their farm team Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League . At the Falcons he was able to convince with 24 scorer points, including five goals, in 73 games, after which he was allowed to participate in the AHL All-Star Classic . He also played for Columbus his first two games in the National Hockey League , where he remained pointless and punished. For the trade deadline on April 3, 2013, he was transferred to the New York Rangers .

In March 2015, the Rangers including Anthony Duclair and two entry draft voting rights (second round 2015 and first round 2016 ) gave him to the Arizona Coyotes and received in return Keith Yandle , Chris Summers and a four-round vote for the 2015 draft. After the season, Moore represented his home country at the international level for the first time and won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Cup .

He only finished the 2014/15 season with the Coyotes and then signed a three-year contract with the New Jersey Devils as a free agent . He fulfilled this and then joined the Boston Bruins in the same way in July 2018 , where he received a five-year contract.
