David Krejčí (born April 28, 1986 in Šternberk , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League since 2006 . With the team he won the Stanley Cup in 2011 .
Career
David Krejčí began his career in his hometown in the junior teams of HC Šternberk , where his father worked as a coach. He started ice skating at the age of four and was soon a member of the club's children's team. In the following years he developed into a technically strong attacking player and won many awards and trophies. At the age of nine he moved to HC Olomouc , as Olomouc was an Extraliga team at that time and was doing very good youth work. With the junior teams Krejčí won several Czech championship titles before he moved to HC Oceláři Třinec in the summer of 2001 due to the bankruptcy of HC Olomouc . For the club from Třinec he played in both the U18 and the U20 extra leagues. He spent the 2003/04 season in the U20 youth team of HC Rabat Kladno before he was selected ( drafted ) in the second round by the Boston Bruins from the NHL in the second round during the NHL Entry Draft .
The organization of the Bruins advised him to move to North America, so that he played between 2004 and 2006 for the Olympiques de Gatineau in the QMJHL . In the 2006/07 season Krejčí was then first used in the farm team of the Bruins in the AHL , the Providence Bruins .
On January 30, 2007 , he made his debut for Boston in the NHL, but injured himself in a check from Sabers player Adam Mair . Less than a month later, he scored his first NHL goal in a shootout against the Carolina Hurricanes . A week later, on February 26, 2007, he scored his first goal out of the game. In the following season, Krejčí was a regular member of the Bruins' NHL squad, but also played 25 games in the AHL for Providence.
In 2011 he won the Stanley Cup with the Bruins and was the best scorer in the playoffs. On December 1 of the same year, he extended his contract with the Bruins until 2015, before signing a new six-year contract in September 2014.
International
David Krejčí has participated in four international championships in his career to date. For the U18 and U20 national teams , he took part in the U18 World Cup in 2004 and the U20 World Cup in 2005 and 2006 . After the Boston Bruins were eliminated from the playoffs in 2008, David Krejčí was appointed to the Czech squad for the 2008 Men's Ice Hockey World Championship . There he was used in five games, but scored no scorer point .
