Anderson Patrick "Anders" Bjork (born August 5, 1996 in Mequon , Wisconsin ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League since May 2017 and at the same time for their farm team, the Providence Bruins , in the American Hockey League is used.
Career
Anders Bjork was born in Mequon and in his youth he played for the Chicago Mission in Chicago in the neighboring state of Illinois . For the 2012/13 season, the attacker switched to the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP), the central talent factory of the US ice hockey association USA Hockey . With the selections of the NTDP he took part in the game operation of the United States Hockey League (USHL), the highest junior league in the country. In addition, the teams in the program function as junior national teams, so Bjork took part in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2013 and the U18 World Championship in 2014 , winning a bronze medal and becoming U18 World Champion. After two seasons, he retired due to age from the NTDP and was then selected in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in 146th position by the Boston Bruins .
In the fall of 2014, Bjork enrolled at the University of Notre Dame and began studying marketing there , while at the same time participating in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Hockey East . In the Fighting Irish jersey, the American increased his personal statistics from year to year until he achieved a point average of well over 1.0 in the 2016/17 season with 52 scorer points from 39 games. As a result, he was elected to the Hockey East First All-Star Team , having been named to the Second All-Star Team the previous year , and was nominated as one of ten finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award , which is the best college player of the Year honors. After Bjork with the U20 national team of the USA in the U20 World Cup in 2016 had won another bronze medal, the attacker made his debut after the college season 2016/17 at an international men's level by the Team USA at the World Cup in 2017 took part and took fifth place there. He then signed an entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins in May 2017 and earned a place in their squad in the following pre-season, so that he made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in October 2017 .

family
His father Kirt Bjork was also a professional ice hockey player and played for the Italian HC Alleghe and the Adirondack Red Wings in the American Hockey League in the 1980s . In addition, his cousin Erik Condra managed to establish himself as an NHL professional.
