Pär Lindholm (born October 5, 1991 in Kusmark ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who is under contract with the Boston Bruins from the National Hockey League in July 2019 and plays for them on the position of the center . Lindholm took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics with the Swedish national team.
Career
Pär Lindholm was born in Kusmark and played in his youth in Skellefteå, just a few kilometers away, in the youth department of Skellefteå AIK . From the 2008/09 season he ran for their J20 in the J20 SuperElit , the highest junior league in Sweden, before he came to sporadic missions for the club's professional team in the Elitserien in the following two years , but without establishing himself there. As a result, the attacker spent the seasons 2010/11 and 2011/12 on loan at IF Sundsvall Hockey in the second-rate Allsvenskan , where he could not prevent the team's relegation in 2012. For the following season, Lindholm even moved to third-class Division 1 and spent a year at Piteå HC before joining Karlskrona HK for the 2013/14 season and thus returned to the second division.
For Karlskrona, the center got 42 scorer points in 52 games, so that he was among the ten best scorers in the league, but missed promotion with the team. However, he managed to return to the top division in the country by returning to his training club in Skellefteå in April 2014 and signing a two-year contract there. This was extended by two years after it had expired, while Lindholm reached the final of the playoffs with the team in 2015, 2016 and 2018, but had to make do with the runner-up in each case. In the 2017/18 season, he significantly increased his personal statistics to 47 points in 49 games, making him fourth-best scorer in the Svenska Hockeyligan , so that he subsequently decided to move to North America and in May 2018 a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs signed.
In the service of the Maple Leafs, the Swede made the immediate leap into the National Hockey League without going through the American Hockey League . By February 2019 he had played 61 games for Toronto before he was transferred to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Nic Petan . There he ended the season and then signed a two-year contract as a free agent with the Boston Bruins in July 2019 .
International
Without having previously represented a Swedish junior selection at a major tournament, Lindholm made his debut for Sweden's senior team as part of the Euro Hockey Tour 2017/18 and shortly afterwards also belonged to the squad for the 2018 Winter Olympics . He benefited from the decision of the NHL not to interrupt their season for these Winter Games and thus to ban their players from participating. In Pyeongchang the attacker came on four missions and finished the tournament with the Tre Kronor in fifth place.
