Jake DeBrusk (born October 17, 1996 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been with the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League since November 2015 .

Career

Jake DeBrusk was born in Edmonton, where he competed in the South Side Athletic Club's junior selection . For the 2013/14 season he moved to the Swift Current Broncos in the Western Hockey League , which had selected him in the WHL Bantam Draft in 2011 in 137th position. In his second year, the left winger made his breakthrough in Swift Current, scoring 81 points in 72 games with 42 goals and was selected in the subsequent NHL Entry Draft 2015 in 15th position by the Boston Bruins . The Bruins equipped DeBrusk with an entry-level contract in November 2015 , but the attacker continued to run for the Broncos in the WHL, which, however, handed him over to the Red Deer Rebels within the league the following month . In return, Lane Pederson and two draft voting rights moved to Swift Current. Even with the Rebels, DeBrusk got a points average of over 1.0 per game and took part with the team (as host) in the Memorial Cup 2016 , where they lost to the Huskies de Rouyn-Noranda in the semifinals .

For the 2016/17 season DeBrusk moved to the Boston Bruins organization, who initially sent him to their farm team , the Providence Bruins, in the American Hockey League (AHL) . The Canadian then spent the entire season in Providence, where he established himself as a regular scorer with 19 goals and 30 assists. As part of the preparation for the 2017/18 season, the attacker then earned a place in the Boston Bruins squad and thus made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in October 2017 , where he scored a goal and an assist. He finished his first NHL season with 43 points from 70 games.
