Joseph R. McLaughlin

Joseph R. McLaughlin ( June 5, 1851July 3, 1932 ) was an American politician . Between 1895 and 1897 he was acting lieutenant governor of the state of Michigan .

Career

Neither the place of birth nor the place of death of Joseph McLaughlin has been recorded. He studied at the University of Michigan , where he graduated as a lawyer in 1879. He then worked in the real estate industry. Since 1886, he built the branch of the Edison Company in Detroit on. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . He became a member of the Michigan Senate and, in 1895, served as President Pro Tempore as its acting chairman.

Following the resignation of Lieutenant Governor Alfred Milnes , who had been elected to the US House of Representatives , McLaughlin became acting vice governor of his state under the state constitution. He held this office between June 1, 1895 and January 1, 1897. He was deputy to Governor John Tyler Rich and formal chairman of the State Senate.

In 1906, Joseph McLaughlin moved to Seattle, Washington state , where he worked in the real estate industry. He died on July 3, 1932.
