T. John Lesinski

Thaddeus John Lesinski (born April 28, 1925 in Detroit , Michigan , †  August 13, 1996 ) was an American politician . Between 1961 and 1965 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Michigan.

Career

During World War II , John Lesinski served in the United States Maritime Service, founded in 1938 . After completing a law degree at the University of Detroit and being admitted to the bar in 1950, he began working in a large law firm. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1951 and 1960 he was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives .

In 1960 Lesinski was elected Lieutenant Governor of Michigan alongside John Swainson . He held this office between 1961 and 1965. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . Since 1963 he served under the new Governor George W. Romney of the Republican Party . In August 1964, Lesinski took part as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City , at which President Lyndon B. Johnson was nominated for re-election. From 1965 to 1976 he was a judge on the Michigan Court of Appeals . He was a member of the American Bar Association and the Knights of Columbus . John Lesinski died on August 13, 1996.
