Archibald Buttars

Archibald Buttars (born November 21, 1838 in Manchester , England , † June 5, 1926 in San Diego , California ) was an American politician . Between 1885 and 1887 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Michigan .

Life

There are hardly any usable sources about Archibald Buttars. He lived at least temporarily in Charlevoix . There he built a house there in 1869, which has been renovated to this day and is currently the seat of a funeral home. Buttars also founded the Charlevoix County Bank . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1883 he was a member and President Pro Tempore of the Michigan Senate .

In 1884 Buttars was elected Lieutenant Governor of Michigan alongside Josiah Begole . He held this office between 1885 and 1887. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, his trail is lost.
