Orrin W. Robinson

Orrin Williams Robinson (born August 14, 1834 in Claremont , New Hampshire , †  September 6, 1907 ) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1903 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Michigan .

Career

Orrin Robinson attended the public schools in his home country and was employed on a neighboring farm. Later he worked in various states in various positions. From 1862 he lived in Michigan, where he worked for a copper mine until 1872. He then got into the wood industry and founded the Sturgeon River Boom Company . Politically, he had been a supporter of the Republican Party , of which he became a member, since the 1850s . In June 1892 he participated as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis . In 1895 and 1896 he was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives ; from 1897 to 1898 he was a member of the State Senate .

In 1898, Robinson was elected lieutenant governor of Michigan alongside Hazen S. Pingree . He held this office after a re-election between 1899 and 1903. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. From 1901 he served under the new governor Aaron T. Bliss . After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he continued his activities in the wood industry. He died on September 6, 1907.
