Jutta Paulus (born May 9, 1967 in Gießen , née Weg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). She has been a member of the European Parliament as part of the Greens / EFA group since the 2019 European elections .

Biographical

Jutta weg graduated from the Gießen Herderschule in 1986 . She completed her studies in pharmacy at the University of Marburg in 1990 with the second state examination and moved to Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . After her pharmacy practical and the third state examination 1991 she was given the license to practice as a pharmacist . Since her marriage in 1991 she has been called Jutta Paulus.

From 1991 to 1998 she worked in a public pharmacy, at the same time she set up Labor LAUS GmbH together with two chemists, where she acted as managing director from 1999 to 2012 and (until 2014) as head of quality assurance. From 2015 she worked in the quality and project management department as head of the central archive at the Marienhausklinikum Hetzelstift .

Political activity

During her studies at the University of Marburg, Paulus worked in the AStA lectures on internationalism and ecology. In 1987 she joined Die Grünen and sat in the city parliament of Marburg from 1988 to 1990.

During the time of her family and professional phase, Paul let her political commitment rest. In 2003 Paul resigned from Alliance 90 / The Greens .

In 2009 Paulus rejoined the party and ran for the 2013 federal election as a direct candidate in the Neustadt - Speyer constituency . From 2014 to 2018 Paulus was the spokesperson for the Federal Energy Working Group. After the state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2016 , she took part on the green side in the coalition negotiations to form the traffic light government in Rhineland-Palatinate . On May 20, 2017, the delegates of the state delegate assembly in Lahnstein elected Paulus as the state chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate Greens at the side of Josef Winkler. In January 2018 she was elected to the 16-member party council at the federal delegate conference of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Hanover, to which she belonged until November 2019.

In November 2018, she ran for the party's federal delegates' conference for the European election list, and the delegates nominated her for 11th place on the list. Your party won 21 of the 96 German mandates in the European elections in May 2019 with 20.5 percent of the vote, so Paulus moved in straight away. She joined the group The Greens / EFA , for the group she is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and an alternate member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Committee on Transport and Tourism . Due to the separation of office and mandate planned in her party, she resigned from her position as state chairman at the subsequent state delegates' meeting in November 2019.
