Location of Kümmel in Marienheide

Kümmel is a district of the Marienheide community in the Oberbergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location and description

The place is located in the southwest of Marienheide on the border with the municipality of Lindlar near the village of Gimborn . Other neighboring towns are Unterpentinghausen and Leiberg .

history

The place Kümmel belonged to the imperial rule Gimborn-Neustadt until 1806 . After belonging to the Grand Duchy of Berg (1806-1813) and a provisional transitional administration , the region came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 on the basis of the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna . Under the Prussian administration, the place first belonged to the Gimborn district (1816–1825) and then to the Gummersbach district in the Rhine Province . In 1843, Kümmel had 19 residents who lived in 3 houses.

In the Prussian first recording of 1840, the place is recorded under the name "Kümmel" on topographic maps. On some recent topographic maps (from 1894) the place is also referred to as "Forsthaus Kümmel".
