The 1952/53 season was the seventh season of the Class A as the highest Soviet ice hockey league . WWS MWO Moscow secured the Soviet championship title for the third time .

mode

The 17 teams in Class A were initially divided into three groups with five to six teams. Each team played once in the main round against each group opponent, whereby the number of games per team was either four or five. Then the three best teams in each group played in a final round for the championship title, while the remaining eight teams each played once against each opponent against relegation. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
