Oswald "Ossy" Kolmann (born January 10, 1928 in Vienna ; † July 18, 2016 in Vienna) was an Austrian actor , cabaret artist , singer and comedian .

life and work

Kolmann, a trained telecommunications technician, took acting classes at the union's drama school from 1948 to 1951. He made his stage debut in the Wiener Werkel cabaret , with whom he also made various guest tours, including to Germany and Switzerland. In 1958, Karl Farkas brought Kolmann to the Simpl cabaret . Then Kolmann played at the Operettenhaus Hamburg, at the Theater an der Wien , at the Vienna Volkstheater and at the Raimundtheater . In 1973 he got an engagement at the Vienna Volksoper , where he was a member of the ensemble for 20 years. Ossy Kolmann made his film debut in the television program Bilanz des Monats, followed by well over a hundred other television productions. He became particularly popular as the constantly drunk hotel guest Kerzl in the ORF series Hallo - Hotel Sacher… Portier! and as "Herr Straub" in Café Lotto (anything is possible!). On the radio, he said Mr. Monday on the show Drivers on the Road . In 1993 he moved to the Theater in der Josefstadt , of which he became an honorary member in 1998.

The Parkinson's disease ended his acting activity. He had his last public appearance in 2003, when he was awarded the title “ Chamber Actor ”. On his 80th birthday in 2008, he showed up one last time as a documentary was shot about him.

Kolmann's son-in-law was Martin Flossmann .

Ossy Kolmann's urn was buried on September 7th, 2016 among close family and friends in the Neustift Cemetery (Gr. U6, No. 190) in Vienna-Währing . Elfriede Ott and Herbert Föttinger said goodbye.
