Reinhard Trinkler (born May 2, 1987 in Mistelbach ) is an Austrian painter , comic artist and illustrator .

Life & Works

Trinkler grew up in the Lower Austrian market town of Hohenau an der March , graduated from the upper secondary school in Mistelbach and then studied theater, film and media studies for a few semesters at the University of Vienna , as well as comics and animation at the Vienna Art School . Inspired by role models such as Albert Uderzo and Erich Sokol , he mainly self-taught the tools of a comic book artist.

He completed his assistantship and teaching in painting in 2011 with the academic painter Heidi Baratta . He lives and works freelance in Hohenau an der March and in Vienna .

He published his first drawings in the Austrian weekly newspaper Der neue Saturday , in books (e.g. in Alles Wein: Literature and Caricature , edited by Gerhard Tötschinger ) and on various Internet sites.

In 2010, through the collaboration with the family of Kottan author Helmut Zenker, the screenplay publisher published the comic book Kottan, drawn and colored by Reinhard Trinkler, determined: So long, Kottan , followed by Kottan determined: The classification (2011), Kottan determined: From people and others Animals (2013), Kottan determined: Kansas City (2013), Kottan determined: Ein Fest für Heribert (2014) and Kottan determined: Burli (2014).

In the years 2012 to 2018, he also drew the Kottan - comic strips for the weekly Vienna Bezirksblatt . The cartoon Bezirksrat Schoitl , which has also been in this newspaper since April 2015 , based on the figure of the same name by Ernst Hinterberger and Erich Sokol's Mr Strudl , also comes from Trinkler's pen.

On behalf of the Vormagazin he designed the mascots subway Vorli well as the female counterpart , the Vienna tram bimbim which the magazine and its regular children's culture guide can be seen.

He became famous as a painter , among other things, with the portrait of Günther Haenel , which was ceremoniously unveiled on October 23, 2011 in the artistic director's gallery of the Volkstheater Vienna , as well as with the portrait of chamber actor Heinz Petters in the actor's gallery of the Volkstheater Vienna, which was presented on September 14 2012 found its place there.

In autumn 2012, Edition Weinviertel published the children's book Das Wunder in der Au with illustrations by Reinhard Trinkler to the text by his mother Ruth Trinkler. He designed the fable Chattue (TurtleCat) published in English in 2014 for the American writer Joseph Simas , who u. a. is known as the screenwriter of the film Babylon AD .

From July 17 to October 13, 2013 Reinhard Trinkler's portrait series Wagner-Wahn-Sinnlich was part of the Wagner Extase exhibition staged by Paulus Manker in the former kk post and telegraph office in Vienna .

On the occasion of the re-performance of Nikolai Gogol's Der Revisor , the Volkstheater Wien presented the comic strip series Der Revisor by Peter Pilz and Reinhard Trinkler from November 29, 2013 .

In October 2014, Amalthea Signum Verlag published Trinkler's comic books Der Blöde und der Gscheite - The best double conferences (based on the texts by Hugo Wiener and with a foreword by Georg Markus ) and Der Herr Karl drawn by Christian Qualtinger (based on the text by Carl Merz and Helmut Qualtinger ).

Trinkler's graphic novel Der Talisman , based on Johann Nestroy's classic farce , was published by Edition Steinbauer in February 2015 .

In 2016 his graphic novels Heinz Fischer and the Second Republic ( Ueberreuter Verlag ) with text by Fritz Schindlecker , Sisi - Die immortliche Kaiserin ( Amalthea Signum Verlag ) with drawings by Christian Qualtinger , Die Habsburger - Das something different Ausmalbuch (Amalthea Signum Verlag) as well as the illustrated volume of dialect poems kraut und ruam (STOAHOATverlag) by the poet Rudi Weiß .

On the occasion of Falco's 60th birthday in February 2017, Reinhard Trinkler published the graphic novel FALCO - The Legend Lives at Amalthea Signum Verlag. In the autumn of the same year, Amalthea Signum Verlag published his graphic novel Der Bankert vom Naschmarkt , the characters, plot and text of which came from the pen of crime novelist Gerhard Loibelsberger . This book is the first to see the fictional Viennese police investigator - Inspector Joseph Maria Nechyba, who has made five novels to date - as a comic figure.

In addition, Trinkler often appears with readings as part of book presentations and independently with his own literature programs such as B.
