Laura Halding-Hoppenheit

Laura Zorita Halding-Hoppenheit (* 1942 in Resita , Romania ) is a German landlady and LGBT - and AIDS - activist and local politician of the Left in Stuttgart .
Life
Laura Halding-Hoppenheit studied art history and archeology in Bucharest and came to Hamburg in the 1970s to do her doctorate there . Due to linguistic communication problems, she felt undesirable in Germany. However, it found acceptance among the gay community .
She entered into a marriage of convenience with a friend, but divorced after six weeks. Hiltram Roman F. Halding-Hoppenheit , a best man from her first marriage, her second husband and father of their two children, got a job as editor-in-chief of Burda Verlag in Stuttgart . She broke off her studies and went to Stuttgart with him in the mid-1970s.
Since the divorce, she has been involved in the gay scene in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg. Since 1977 she worked in the Stuttgart Kings Club in the Stuttgarter Calwer Straße , a gay bar. She fell in love with the operator, got married and fell out with him in 1988. In 1989, after working in another restaurant, she reopened the Kings Club in Stuttgart's Lautenschlager Strasse under the name Lauras Club . At times she ran four trendy bars in parallel.
From 1998 to 2002 the actor Helmut Berger lived with Halding-Hoppenheit. She got to know him at a Harald Glööckler fashion show in the New Palace . She brought the addict Berger several times to the clinic, from where he kept running away and returning. She came with his arrogant behavior is not clear, given to him in the Kings Club local ban and sent him last home to his mother in Salzburg .
In 2003 she ran on the citizens 'list of the Stuttgart voters' association Rosa Liste Stuttgart . Since May 2014 she has been a city councilor for the Left in Stuttgart. In the 2017 federal election she was a direct candidate for the Left in constituency 285 .
In 2019 she met the photographer and artist Peter Jacobi . She was divorced three times in total.
Sociopolitical engagement
She is involved (e), among others, the Association for assistance to drug-dependent women Lagaya and in mother-child projects and pay out of pocket a street social worker by the hour in the Women's Café La Strada to South-East European prostitutes cares in Stuttgart's Old Town.
Honors
In November 2011 she was awarded the “Rosa Detlef” prize by the Baden-Württemberg Minister of Social Affairs, Katrin Altpeter . The award recognizes the commitment to tolerance and against the exclusion of homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals. In 2013, the team from her club, Kings Club, received the “Posit HIV Prize”. She has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon (January 23, 2014). In 2014, the director Rosa von Praunheim set a cinematic monument for her (“Laura - The Jewel of Stuttgart”). The film premiered on December 1, 2014 on the occasion of World AIDS Day in the Cinemaxx cinema in Stuttgart . She is an honorary member of the German AIDS Aid . The Hohenloher Tagblatt ( Südwest Presse ) from Crailsheim even called it the " Stuttgart Original ". On October 17, 2016, she was named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the business women of DEHOGA Baden-Württemberg for her entrepreneurial performance and her social commitment against discrimination and exclusion of minorities, especially homosexuals.
