Le Revest-les-Eaux is a French municipality with 3865 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Var department in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the canton of Toulon-3 in the arrondissement of Toulon .
geography
Le Revest-les-Eaux is located in the north of Toulon, to whose urban area the municipality on Mont Faron (altitude 584 m) borders. Seen from west to east, Le Revest-les-Eaux has the following neighboring communities: Toulon , Évenos , Signes , Solliès-Toucas , Solliès-Ville and La Valette-du-Var .
The old village was built on a rock at the foot of a medieval tower. The houses, which are mainly oriented towards the west and south, are located on four streets that are connected by passages. Le Revest is a typical Provencal place, the municipal area of which is largely protected.
Le Revest-les-Eaux dominates the Dardennes valley with its reservoir. The place is separated from the sea by the 584 m high Mont Faron, to the north rises the 804 m high Mont Caume , the 796 m high Grand Cap and the Coudon .
history
The place is mentioned in the documents for the first time in the 13th century as Revestetum and Revestum . It was under the rule of the Counts of Marseille , later those of Montauban and Ventimiglia .
