The women's high jump at the European Athletics Championships in 1966 was held on September 3 and 4, 1966 in Budapest's Népstadion .

In this competition there was a double victory for the high jumpers from the USSR. The European champion was the 1964 Olympic third party Taissija Tschentschik . Second place went to Lyudmila Komlewa. Bronze went to Jarosława Bieda from Poland .

qualification

3rd September 1966

The 24 participants took part in a joint qualification round. The qualification height for the direct entry into the final was 1.65 m. Since only ten athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue), the final field was filled with the next best-placed athletes. Eight participants (highlighted in light green) were level behind the ten directly qualified athletes with a jump of 1.60 m. So eighteen jumpers made it to the final the next day.
