After winning the EM title last year , Heike Henkel, formerly Heike Redetzky, was now world champion

The women's high jump at the 1991 World Athletics Championships was held on August 29 and 31, 1991 in the Olympic Stadium in the Japanese capital, Tokyo .

With silver and bronze, the Soviet high jumpers won two medals in this competition. The reigning European champion Heike Henkel , formerly Heike Redetzky, from Germany became world champion . She won Jelena Jelesina before the European Championship third in 1991 . Bronze went to Inha Babakowa .

In the final on August 31, world champion Heike Henkel set a new German record with 2.05 m.

qualification

August 29, 1991, 10:20 am

29 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The qualification height for direct entry into the final was 1.92 m. But this height did not even have to be approached. After completing the 1.90 m jumps, six jumpers were still in the competition. Another six had jumped 1.88 m. So the twelve best sought were found, who played the final two days later (highlighted in light green).
